The necklace is made of glass seed beads, measures approximately 17 1/2 inches, and slips over the user's head; there is no clasp.
The Naapok bead project in Ketumbeine, North Maasailand, Tanzania, provides 55 Maasai women with a regular income. Each piece is handcrafted with locally available glass beads, wire, and recycled plastic.
This long-held beading tradition is helping alleviate extreme poverty by addressing land restrictions that affect the Maasai's traditional nomadic herding.
Please note that handcrafted items may have variations.
